Feeling Squirmy

Three times in the past two weeks, my belly button ring has gotten SERIOUSLY snagged on my belt buckle.

*gaaag*

Each time, the ring snagged when I was bent over doing something. Once, while gathering firewood, it got so snagged I COULDN'T STAND UPRIGHT. The latest incident was this morning.

Oh, god. The pulling. The pulling!!!

*GAG*

*GAG*

So, I am taking the damn thing out. I've had it for 12 years and the only time I even remember it is there is when I snag it. It was a silly college thing and I've been over it for about 11 years. I've just been too lazy to deal with it. It was a small miracle I went through with getting it in the first place.  The idea of or actual sensation of pulling skin freaks me out to no end and I've been know to pass out at the mere sight of needles.

This morning, while I practiced meditative, calming breathing A. tried to unscrew the ball so he could take it out, but to no avail. I think I am going to have to go to a parlor and have it removed. (It is still the original captive bead ring.) Every web site I've seen recommends going to a parlor or having your own pair of ring opening pliers.

Dear, God.

My belly button feels weird.

Oh, God. I can't get the sensation of pulling skin to go away. I am feeling a little sick.

Do you have any youthful piercings or tatoos you wish you could remove?

  1. Oh my god, thinking about this sounds HORRIBLE. I'm glad you're getting it removed. I was surprised to hear you had it in the first place! It sounds like it has run its course.

  2. This is so gross, so avert your eyes if you don't want to read it. I got my belly button pierced when I was 16 and about 3 years ago my body started rejecting it. My body litterally pushed it out and grew skin beneath it so that when I finally noticed it was hanging on by a tiny string of skin. Gross, right? So. f-ing. gross. When I went in to have it taken out the guy said he sees a couple of those a year.

  4. Oh dear god, I know exactly what you mean with the *shudder* factor of these types of things. I don't have any piercings that give me the icks, but I did have this medical procedure, and the mere knowledge that I had stiches and sutures made me almost pass out. I could not clean them myself and when the doctor had to take the stiches (which were supposed to disolve on their own) out I got severely nauseated and turned pale as a ghost. I can't deal with things in skin. Yuck-o.

  6. Flib -

I had a couple of moles removed and had stitches. I was so f'ing freaked out that I called my best friend in total hysterics. He thought my father had died - THAT IS HOW HYSTERICAL I WAS. Over stitches.

Oh, I get you with things in the skin.

  7. I don't have any tattoos, which is a good thing because I am very fickle and would probably hate it. I had my tongue pierced for about 6 years, but I took it out a few years ago when I decided I was too old for that, heh. I still have my navel pierced, and I might take it out except that the hole is very visible and you'd be able to see it anyway. I also have my nose pierced, which I love, and I'm Indian and pierced noses are very common among Indian women. I can't say that I regret any of them, but I definitely love the nose ring the most. I can't imagine my face without it.
